Make a chart from your data. Put it anywhere.
Paste CSV or JSON, watch the chart draw, and download it as SVG or PNG, sized for email, Slack, slides or a README. Free, and it all happens in your browser.
Examples
Every chart below was drawn by the same renderer as the builder, when this page was built. Open one in the builder to change it.
Get a hosted link
Some places can’t run a chart script or take a file upload: email, Slack messages, PDFs, pull request descriptions. A hosted link is a plain image URL that draws your chart when it’s opened.
What it will do:
- An image URL per chart. Put it in an
<img>tag or a Markdown image and the chart shows up, SVG or PNG. - Signed. Nobody can change the chart by editing the link.
- Cached close to readers, so a newsletter sent to thousands loads quickly.
- The same renderer as this builder, so the link and the file you download look the same.
Not built yet: we’re checking that enough people want it first. Leave your email and we’ll tell you when it opens. Nothing else.

Knowing the limits up front saves you an afternoon.
- One chart at a time
-
Chart Link makes single charts, not dashboards or reports.
- Up to 8 series, 5,000 rows
-
Beyond 8 series, colors stop being easy to tell apart. Beyond a few thousand points, summarize first.
- One value axis
-
No second y-axis, on purpose: two scales on one chart suggest links between numbers that may not exist. Make two charts instead.
- Static files
-
Exports are images: no tooltips or zooming. The SVG does include a text description of the data for screen readers.
- Dates in ISO format
-
Only dates like 2026-07-06 are placed on a time axis. Other date formats are kept as text labels.
- Fonts in SVG files
-
An SVG uses the fonts of the computer that opens it, unless you outline the text when exporting. PNGs always look as previewed.
- Hosted links
-
Not built yet. They are in early access to see if enough people want them.

What is Chart Link?
A chart builder for the charts that go into other things: emails, Slack messages, slides, READMEs and reports. Paste data, pick a chart, download an SVG or a PNG. It is made by Boring Utils, a small studio of utilities for people who build and run things online.
Is it free?
The builder is free, with no account. Hosted chart links are in early access, and their pricing isn’t decided yet.
Where is my data stored?
Nowhere but your browser. Charts are drawn on your device, and nothing you paste is uploaded.
To keep your work, the builder writes it into the page address after the #. Browsers never send that part to servers, so a link you copy carries the chart to whoever opens it, and to no one else.
Can I use the charts commercially?
Yes. The SVG and PNG files are yours to use anywhere, without credit.
Which charts can it make?
Bar (vertical, horizontal, grouped and stacked), line, area (overlapping or stacked), pie, donut and scatter. Each comes in five themes: Ivory, Paper, Carbon, High contrast and Plain.
Are the charts accessible?
Each SVG carries a title and a description of the data (ranges, highs and lows, and the values for smaller charts) for screen readers. Colors are checked for color blindness, the High contrast theme adds line patterns and markers, and every color sits on a 3:1 or better contrast with its background.
Is there an API?
Not yet. Hosted links are the first step: image URLs for charts. The renderer behind this page is built so it can run on a server too. Sign up for early access to hear when it opens.
