Dates down, lines across.

A column per line. The builder spaces the dates and draws the rest.

One column per line

Dates or labels first, then a column of numbers for each line. Type over the sample in the table (Add column makes another line), or switch to Text and paste from a spreadsheet or a CSV file.

Dates to scale

ISO dates and months sit at their real distance apart, so a skipped week doesn’t pass for a normal one. Other dates stay labels, in the order given.

2026-07-06 2026-07
Several lines

Up to 8, each with its own color and a legend on top. Untick a line under More settings, Columns to leave it out.

Gaps

An empty cell, NA or a dash breaks the line there instead of diving to zero.

Shape and points

Straight, smooth or steps, with or without a dot on every point, under More settings, Style.

Filled in

Choose Area to shade under the lines, or stack them to show a total built from its parts.

When a line tells it best.

And when another chart says it better.

Change over time
A line joins one moment to the next, so the eye reads the trend: signups by week, uptime by month, a price by day.
A few lines at once
Two to four lines compare well on one graph. Past that they tangle; split them into two graphs, or chart the ones that matter.
Not for separate things
Countries, products or teams have no order between them, so a line across them implies one. Use a bar graph.

How do I make a line graph with multiple lines?

Put the dates or labels in the first column and one column of numbers per line, with a name at the top of each. Every numeric column becomes its own line, up to 8, with the names in the legend.

Why are my dates shown as text?

Only ISO dates like 2026-07-06, or months like 2026-07, go on a time axis. A date like 07/06/2026 could be July or June, so it stays a label, in the order given.

Does the axis start at zero?

When the data sits near zero, yes. When it doesn’t, the axis fits the data, so a change from 9,800 to 10,200 still shows. Lines can do that honestly; bars can’t.

Can I plot one number against another, like price and sales?

That is a scatter plot. Choose Scatter under Type: the first numeric column becomes the horizontal axis and the others are plotted against it.

Which size should I download?

Slide (1600 × 900) for a presentation, Email (600 × 300) as a PNG for a newsletter or report, and README (1200 × 600) as an SVG for GitHub. Long time series read better at the wider sizes.

Is it free, and is my data uploaded?

Free, with no account. The graph is drawn in your browser, and nothing you type or paste is uploaded. An editor link carries all your data after the # in the address, which browsers never send to a server.
